Carmèneré has proven to be a beautiful match for Washington State’s optimal growing conditions. Our 2020 Sgt Pepper is a textbook example of how the growing season affects the glass in your hand. Unlike the 2019 growing season that ended abruptly with an arctic cold snap, the 2020 vintage was as hot as they come. This warmer climate leads to more ripe fruit and floral aromas with subtle pink peppercorn and herby white pepper notes, rather than the spicy or green bell pepper style that comes from a cooler growing year. The aptly named “Sergeant Pepper” holds true to its roots with gorgeous aromatics of red raspberry, roasted peppers, pink and black peppercorns, and hints of blackberry and vanilla sweetness on the palate. This wine will pair wonderfully with grilled ribeye, slow-cooked pork with Molé, or go traditional with flank steak with a herby chimichurri.
