The 2019 growing season came with many challenges due to the cold temperatures that plagued much of Washington State in early October. Luckily, with medium-high temperatures running through August and September we received just enough growing days to ripen this lovely Roussanne. The 2019 Roussanne shows all the characteristics we look for in this Rhone white. On the nose, this wine is bursting with aromatics of Meyer lemon, apricot, and Bartlett pear. Nuances of tea and chamomile add to a complexity that is only achievable through meticulous care and dedication in the vineyard. The palate shows an abundant amount of apricot, peach, and tropical flavors of mango and pineapple. A medium-bodied wine with a defined acidic backbone balances out the weight of the palate providing a refreshing and lengthy finish. Roussanne is great for some intriguing food matches, so try pairing with semi-soft cheeses such as fresh blue cheese and triple cream, or roasted chicken and Blanquette of veal.
