Counoise is one of the 13 sanctioned varieties used in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and is most commonly used as a blending grape to add complexity and focus. We at Alexandria Nicole Cellars feel that this grape thrives on its own when able to reach peak ripeness. This is precisely what it’s allowed to do at our Estate Vineyard. Deeper and darker in color than previous vintages, this wine shows lively aromatics of red raspberry, blueberry, rose petal, and cranberry which is complimented by a touch of spice. On the palate, fruity notes of strawberry, cherry, black pepper, and plum are backed by an intriguing hint of anise, finishing with cleansing acidity and a lush tannin profile. Pair it with a mushroom fettuccini or a cozy vegetable stew to really bring out its beauty. Please decant. Drink now through 2023.
