2015 Petit Verdot

Our Estate Grown Petit Verdot is truly the oxymoron as the name suggests. In the vineyard the Petit Verdot vines carry open clusters with tiny berries. This tiny berry size leads to a high ratio of skin to juice contact during the fermentation process which creates a wine that exudes highly concentrated aromatic notes of rose, violet, blackberry, raspberry and blueberry. The mouth is packed full of fine, silky tannins which give the wine its velvety soft characteristic. The palate erupts with blackberry, raspberry, leather, plum and chocolate. A subtle hint of oak gives off a touch of vanilla, cedar and spice and the cleansing acidity that runs the length of the wine not only helps to retain its balance, but aids in the long lasting finish. Don’t be misled by its name, “Little Big Man”, as this is a big and bold wine that can hold up to most grilled meats, even such as wild boar or pork belly. While it is drinking well now, this wine will only benefit from some cellaring time. Don’t forget to decant!
